Language Courses

Airlines that fly international routes are constantly looking for flight attendants that have language skills other than English and Spanish. If you have the language skills the airlines are looking for, you could put yourself a step ahead of your competition and increase your starting pay! Below are a couple of inexpensive language courses that may be helpful.

FLIGHT ATTENDANT COURSES IN SENIOR HIGH

  • If your in High school, you should take advantage of getting classes for free and take:

* NOTE: At the end of September 2023, there were 8 positions open for United Airlines. All had a requirement of a second language! They were Italian, Japanese, Greek, Hebrew, German, Hindi, Cantonese, and Dutch

Consider taking a CPR & First Aid course

  • You should really consider taking a CPR & First Aid course. Yes, you will be taught this during flight attendant training, but training will be high pressure. Knowing a subject beforehand will allow you some breathing room and possibly allow you to get ahead of your studies. The American Red Cross has a great course for this.
  • And there are a few inexpensive online courses you can take that will help you understand the industry.

FLIGHT ATTENDANT TRAINING

Flight attendant training is an intense and comprehensive process.

  • It includes classroom instruction, safety drills, and hands-on practice.
  • You will learn about customer service, emergency procedures, and aircraft safety
  • You’ll also learn how to serve meals, drinks, and snacks

After completing the training, you’ll be prepared to provide a safe and comfortable experience for your passengers.

FLIGHT ATTENDANT DEGREE

es, a high school diploma is technically the minimum educational requirement. But because the competition for flight attendant openings is so high, an Associate’s degree is typically the minimum requirement for a flight attendant position. And most working flight attendants have a Bachelor’s degree.

In our post we tell you

  • the difference between getting an Associate’s degree and a Bachelor’s degree. And it’s not just the time it takes to get the degree.
  • We also give you a list of the majors you should consider.

FLIGHT ATTENDANT SCHOOL

There has been an argument about private flight attendant schools for quite a while!

Pro flight attendant schools

This side believes that it’s a good idea to pay for training prior to being hired by an airline.

Because it should give you more skills you can put on your resume. This should make you more attractive to recruiters. And depending on the training you get, it should be easier to get through the airlines training.

The problem is, I haven’t seen any proof that that’s the case. In fact, I’ve never heard a private school guarantee a job after training. I’ve often heard of graduates NOT getting the job! So there doesn’t seem to be any advantage in paying thousands of dollars for the training.

Against flight attendant schools

This side DOES NOT recommend private schooling at all!

Why? If the applicant hasn’t had any pre-training, the airlines can train them exactly the way they want to, and the applicant doesn’t have to unlearn anything.

It’s also a better deal for the flight attendant candidate. Because most airlines pay for the training and guarantee you a job after successful completion. Saving you thousands of dollars!

My opinion

In the U.S. the hiring airline trains their candidate the way they want them to be trained.

In addition, the airline can invest in training equipment that the private school just doesn’t have access to. Such as pools, plain trainers.

I recommend that you improve your resume by getting experience in the customer service industry, and  use your extra money to learn a language and / or get a degree!
