  1. Athletic Shirts or Polo shirts:
    • I recommend a shirt with a collar, very often they are referred to as a Polo shirt. You want to look professional, so make sure the shirt isn’t too tight.
    • Opt for moisture-wicking athletic materials. These allow freedom of movement and will keep you cool.
    • Example: Women’s Athletic Shirt
  2. Sports Bras:
    • Choose comfortable sports bras that allow movement. Look for moisture-wicking fabrics.
    • Example: Women’s Athletic sports bra
  3. Jeans or slacks
    • Comfortable jeans or slacks are ideal for physical activities. Look for breathable fabrics.
    • Example: Women’s Athletic slacks
  4. Cross-Trainers or Lightweight Sneakers:
    • Cross-trainers or lightweight sneakers are perfect for agility. Ensure they fit well.
    • NOTE: running shoes are NOT recommended. The way they are constructed is they have support front to back, but they don’t have much support side to side.
    • Example: Women’s Cross-Trainers
  5. Hair Ties or Headbands:
    • Keep your hair out of your face with hair ties or headbands.
    • Example: Women’s Hair Ties
  6. Compression Socks:
    • Long hours on your feet can be tiring. Compression socks improve circulation and reduce fatigue.
    • I recommend wearing cotton socks over the Compression socks, the cotton will absorb sweat.

    • Staying hydrated is crucial. Consider a small hydration pack or a water bottle.

You may want to bring your tablet or laptop, along with the chargers that go with them. You won’t need any of these for classes. But you’ll be able to complete computer material from your room, rather than going to the computer lab.

A tote bag or briefcase to carry your belongings around the Training Center is handy.

I hope this helps

Being late for class is not a reason you want to be dismissed from training

So in addition to your phone, I seriously recommend that you bring a travel alarm clock. Your phone could go through an update overnight and…well, you just never know.

Packing for the journey:

Using packing cubes allows you to fit more clothing into the same size luggage.
Using packing cubes allows you to fit more clothing into the same size luggage.
Rolling your clothes instead of folding them can save a lot of space in your luggage.

We are very partial to using packing cubes. Why? In a nutshell, packing cubes makes life easier, much less stressful and the cost is very reasonable, so in our opinion, they are worth the cost.

Why use packing cubes?

  1. They allow you to stay organized. Pack related items in the same packing cube.
  2. Allows you to find items without going through the entire suitcase. Saving you a lot of time getting through the TSA screening and first thing in the morning during training.
  3. Packing cubes make it incredibly easy to unpack. Once you reach your destination, you simply take the packing cubes from your luggage and place them into the hotel dresser drawers.
  4. Using packing cubes can allow you to fit many times more clothing into the same size luggage. What you do is you pack the packing cube with your clothing. Then you remove the air from the packing cube, by pushing down on it or sitting on it. The resulting packing cube will take up much less room than the clothing alone.

What to look for when buying packing cubes?

  • Make sure that the packing cube you purchase is the correct size. You don’t want to buy a packing cube that is bigger than your luggage.
  • Purchase different sizes of packing cubes.
  • The small cubes can be used to carry small items such as electronics, socks, underwear, etc…
  • Medium sized cubes can be used to hold T-shirts and shorts.
  • And the larger cubes can hold your shirts, pants, coats, etc…

Packing cubes also allows you to organize the items within your luggage.

  • For example, you can use a smaller packing cube to keep your loose items together, such as toiletries, belts, hair accessories, underwear or electronics.
  • You can have one cube for the clothing you’ll wear during classroom days (business), and another cube for training clothing, and a third cube to group smaller items of clothing together such as bras, underwear, swimming gear, socks etc…
  • For items like blazers, dressy pants, business dresses and starched shirts you need a way to avoid wrinkles. To do this you can either use a garment bag or a Garment Folder. A Garment Folder will fit inside your luggage, but you’ll most likely get fold marks on your clothes, but you should be able to get rid of them by hanging your clothes in a steamy hotel bathroom.
  • When using a packing cube, place your folded clothing at the bottom of the cube, then place your rolled clothing on top of the folded clothing. This should prevent your clothing from moving around inside the cube and prevent wrinkles.

Some additional tips on how to pack efficiently

Make a list of everything you need to bring. This will help you get organized and ensure you don’t forget anything important.

Check the weather: Make sure you check the weather forecast for the location where you will be attending the training program. This will help you pack appropriate clothing and gear.

Pack versatile clothing: Choose clothing items that can be easily mixed and matched to create different outfits. This will help you pack less and save space in your luggage. You can simplify your wardrobe by creating a capsule wardrobe.

Visit your nearest hardware store: and pick up some painter shoe covers. If you’re packing dirty sneakers in your luggage, you can wrap the shoe covers around them to keep your clothing clean.

Keep in mind that you may be sharing a room with someone (or two). Closet space will be at a premium (Hangers will be in short supply, too).

And remember,

  • you’ll have to take all your belongings back home with you
  • PLUS all your training materials
  • AND your whole new set of uniforms, possibly including your uniform winter coat.

That’s a lot to repack and get home!

NOTE: At many airlines, you will also be receiving a new Flight Attendant suitcase and tote bag as part of your uniform package. But this won’t always happen.

What medicines Should you pack?

If you have a chronic condition it would be harmful and possibly dangerous to go without your medication for days or longer. Also there is no guarantee that the medications you’ll need will be available at your destination. So it’s important that you plan ahead. After all, if you’re not feeling well, you may not have the time or energy to try to find and get your medications.

Start thinking about this early:

  • Talk to your doctor and try to get a supply of your medication that will last you for your entire trip.
  • Carry a copy of your prescription and a note from your doctor. These two items will be invaluable if something happens to your medication supply, they should help you get more! They will also make the TSA screening process go faster.

Getting Prescriptions Through TSA

The TSA will allow you to carry on some prescriptions, but…

  • All medicine must go through a screening process.
  • All medicine must be clearly labeled to help in the screening process. This means that your medications need to be in the original packaging that you received from the pharmacy.
  • TSA says that you are allowed to carry-on “medically necessary liquids, creams and medications”  that are larger than 3.4 ounces (100 milliliters) in your carry-on bag.
  • But if your prescription medications come in containers or bottles larger than 3.4 ounces (100 milliliters), you will need to pack them separately in your carry-on bag.
  • You need to declare each medication to the security officer when you arrive at the airport security checkpoint.
  • It would be helpful to bring a note from your doctor stating that the medication is medically necessary, and again, make sure the medications are in their original packaging (bottles) that came from the pharmacy. If you’re using packing cubes, you can place the doctor’s note in the same cube with the prescriptions.
  • TSA says that your prescriptions will be removed from your carry on so they can be screened separately from the rest of your belongings.
